I have been working for the international law firm Osborne Clarke in Cologne for 9 months now (since June 2019). I have the opportunity to visit our colleagues and their offices all over Europe, speak daily with extremely smart lawyers and colleagues from the business services departments – in short, I am constantly learning and am very happy to have taken this step. After my time in the start-up world, I wanted to get to know a corporate and its structures from the inside. At the time of my entry, the legal market was an industry that was in a state of flux – and still is today and will certainly be so in the coming years. This was a great momentum for me to join on the subject of digitalization and digital transformation – both within the law firm as such and externally with regard to how we can further expand, innovate and redesign the services provided by the law firm.
With the founding of a subsidiary dedicated to the development of solutions and products in the context of legal tech, we have laid an important foundation stone in the face of strong competition in 2020 and beyond. In addition, we are constantly working with lawyers within the organisation to determine what is changing in our clients‘ business in order to provide the best possible legal advice on business-critical issues. With all its obstacles, I am still extremely pleased and proud to be able to reflect what we have achieved so far. And now I’m happy to show you a podcast of a great initiative called Talking Legal Tech by Legal Tech Lab Cologne, where Gereon Abendroth (Partner and CIO of OC Germany) and I had the opportunity to talk a little bit out of the box.
How do you help employees engage for digitization in a law firm? What do personal and digital touchpoints contribute to culture change? Why do lawyers lack a culture of error and why is the interdisciplinarity of teams so important?
Many questions, but just as many answers in the new episode of TalkingLegalTech:
